2019–2020 HOMESCHOOL ART PROGRAM
FEBRUARY: ABSTRACTION/GEORGIA O’KEEFE
Our February Homeschool Art program will bring some color to our winter days as we explore abstraction by emulating O’Keefe’s works of art.
Fridays (Class): 2/14/20, 2/28/20, 3/6/20
We’re switching up the schedule this year! Since littles are often up early (too early sometimes, ha!) and teenagers often like to sleep in, we are reversing our class order. Plus, we’re excited to try an additional block of OPEN ART time twice a month just for homeschoolers! Our new schedule:
9:30am–10am: Preschool / 10:15–11:15: Elementary School / 11:30–12:30: Middle and High School
PRESCHOOL: What’s more fun than painting flowers? Painting REALLY BIG flowers! Let’s take a look under the magnifying glass and paint what we see. Ages 4-6 / All Supplies Included / 9:30 am – 10:00 am
ELEMENTARY: There are many forms of abstract art. One form, used by Georgia O’Keefe, reshapes a common object (like a flower) in order to focus on the expressions (feelings) it can convey. Students will try out this technique for themselves. Grades 1-6 / All Supplies Included / 10:15 am – 11:15 am
MIDDLE/HIGH: O’Keefe’s abstracted flower studies are excellent examples of powerful abstract art—representing a common object in a different way. Students will engage with this technique while also adding their own symbolism. Grades 7 & up / All Supplies Included / 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
