How To Create Optical Illusions
We will be learning how to bend lines and create optical illusions in our art works to create the impression
of movement, vibration or advancing/ receding imagery! There are many contemporary artists who
work with Op Art (optical art) or incorporate it into their imagery; we’ll look at these artists to see their
examples of the concepts necessary that go into making this kind of work such as including negative/
positive space, value and contrasting / complimentary colors.

Elementary Homeschool Art: Contemporary Op Art

Contemporary Op Art
Op Art is an exciting movement in contemporary art that is all about creating illusions of movement,
vibration or advancing /receding imagery within the artwork. We will be considering many important art
concepts as we explore and create within the op art style, including negative/ positive space, value
scales and contrasting / complimenting colors. As we create our own op art we will be expanding our art
vocabulary as well.

Preschool Homeschool Art: Zentangles & Lines!
FRIDAYS: February 8, 15, 22 @ 11:00-11:30 am / Ages 4-6 / All Supplies Included
Zentangles and Lines!
This month we’ll be spending some time with markers in hand and learning about different ways to
create a drawing. The art making that we will learn about includes zentangle, and how to make and
drawn patterns. We may even try our hand at a little bit of Op Art too!
