2019–2020 HOMESCHOOL ART PROGRAM
SEPTEMBER: COLOR THEORY/MARK ROTHKO: Our September Homeschool Art program will explore color theory, and include an exploration of the artist Mark Rothko.
Fridays (Class): 9/13/19, 9/20/19, 9/27/19
We’re switching up the schedule this year! Since littles are often up early (too early sometimes, ha!) and teenagers often like to sleep in, we are reversing our class order. Plus, we’re excited to try an additional block of OPEN ART time twice a month just for homeschoolers! Our new schedule:
FRIDAYS—CLASSES (3x/month)
9:30am–10am: Preschool / 10:15–11:15: Elementary School / 11:30–12:30: Middle and High School
PRESCHOOL: Let’s paint! We’ll have fun painting with bright colors, color mixing, and making our own mini versions of Rothko paintings. Ages 4-6 / All Supplies Included / 9:30 am – 10:00 am
ELEMENTARY: We’ll study where color comes from, including the difference between color in paint and color in light. Projects will focus on color mixing with watercolor and Rothko-style projects in acrylic. Grades 1-6 / All Supplies Included / 10:15 am – 11:15 am
MIDDLE/HIGH: We’ll study color use and its effect on the viewer, and discuss the “color field” school of art. We will also study the origin of color and the difference between color in pigment and light and explore the use of vivid color in our own work. Grades 7 & up / All Supplies Included / 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
