Homeschool Series – Romare Bearden: Cubism & Collage
ROMARE BEARDEN: CUBISM & COLLAGE
WEDNESDAYS: APRIL 11TH, 18TH, & 25th
Bearden was a pioneer of African-American art. His early work was realistic with religious themes. Later, he depicted African-American family life and culture in the south, through multimedia collage in Cubist style.
We will explore Romare Bearden’s art and the way he represented his ethnic identity. Students will learn the art of collage by first creating a striking bird collage to emphasize contrast, then depicting a realism scene of their choice. Emphasis will be placed on planning, design, & placement. We will explore color, mixed media, texture, overlap, cubism, realism & more.
Tap into your creative energy and develop your artistic skills through a variety of media and approaches. Explore the elements and principles of art, while learning about prominent artists, cultures, and movements throughout history. Each 60 minute class will provide the groundwork for artistic growth and understanding. Each series typically consists of 3 classes. Grades 1-7
